IOD Guild Policy Revised by Siphi - 9 21, 2009 Guild Culture Welcome! This information is primarily for the new members of recently invited to IOD. I hope that to you, wearing the IOD guild tag means more instancing, more PvPing, more raiding. Initiate Status New invitees to IOD will be under "Initiate" status for no longer than one month. This is considered a probationary period. This probationary period is necessary for us to determine if you are a fit within the IOD guild. The time it takes to be promoted from an Initiate to an IOD member depends on the initiate's availability to group with other members. This means an initiate should show a little initiative to group with IOD folks so that we can collectively gauge their fit within IOD and their ability to contribute effectively in instances and raids. The duration of Initiate status could be as short as a week or two, but will not be longer than a month. If the initiate has been so unavailable for an entire month that we have been unable to evaluate him or her, then it is clear they are not a fit for IOD and will be designated to "Casual" status or removed from the guild. Officers that perform new invites should put an "Officer Note" on the invitee containing the date the new member was added so that the month long time frame can be accurately and fairly addressed. An initiate priority should be to always signup for raids on our web site. Failure to do so will make the initiate not-visible to the officers and raid leader. Initiate Instancing New invitees are encouraged to make themselves available on non-raiding nights for some instancing with IOD raiders and officers. It will be during these instancing efforts that new players will be evaluated on class skill and how well they work with other IOD members. 10 man and instances are the initiates responsibility. IOD officers, members or raiders are not responsible in taking initiates to instances or 10 man raids. Guild Help Initiates please get registered on the website as soon as possible. If you need help with a quest or encounter, feel free to post a request in the forums. Also feel free to ask for help in the guild chat. If you need something, we can and will help, try to let us know in advance so we can plan to help you. It is very important to be aware of other players' current activities before asking for help and be cognizant that people may be doing other things and are unavailable. It is equally important not to be impetuously persistent in asking players for help who are otherwise engaged. Doing so is not only discourteous, it is annoying, and the quickest way to have people mark you for an impatient noob - which could ultimately lead you out of IOD. Again, IOD is not responsible in helping you, if help is available, great! But if not then understand we are a guild that provides a good raiding environment, nothing more, nothing less. Planning the help you need affords us a few luxuries. First we have a lot kick ass players in this guild who are experienced with everything up to our current progress. If we put together an IOD squad (pun intended) to help you take out a quest objective, you almost guarantee success and you avoid the pitfalls of PUG groups. As a requester of help, you also have a responsibility to know what you need help with. You should know what you are killing, where it spawns, what special attacks, abilities, or circumstances are involved with the encounter. Most of the time we will know a lot of that, but don't show up to an encounter empty-handed and expect a walk through. Do your homework. There is a thread on the forums. Use them. The exception to this pre-planning requirement is an instance run. Lastly, do not post or ask for help during designated raid times, as many of us will obviously be occupied during those times. The bottom line is you need to plan for guild help. Post your request and we will assemble an A-Team and knock it out for you. Initiate Raid Participation New invitees who are still in their probationary period within IOD may be invited to raids. This is dependant on the number of "Raiders" who are available to raid and the classes required for the raid. The Raid Leader and the Officers determine of who participates in the raids based on the requirements for that particular raid. Raid Start Time & Preparation Raiding nights for IOD are currently on Monday, Wednesday, and Thursday. You are required to be available to raid these 3 nights. You must sign up on the guild website before 7PM the night of the raid; otherwise you risk being left out. If you intend to participate, you MUST be online and ready for invites at 7:30 PM (EST) server time, and be ready for the first pull at the designated raid spot at 8:00PM server time. It also mandatory for you to have all up-to-date add-ons installed and to possess all reagents required to fulfill your role. If you are invited and show up unprepared (no up-to-date add-ons, reagents, etc.), you will be kicked from the raid and replaced by someone who is ready to play. This is a hard and fast rule, there will be no discussion. When you ask for raid spots at 8:00PM server time, you should have everything you need in your backpacks at the instance ready to pull. In short, be READY to play if you intend to participate. Raids go until 12:00AM, or until the raid has been called by the raid leader. This is a hard stop deadline, we will not go past it except is unusual circumstances (i.e. One last try on a boss we think we can down, etc.), and extending must be approved by all 25 people in the raid. You must also be able to stay for the duration of the raid. Do not request for a spot if you will not be able to complete the raid. Raiders Reliable members who show up often for raids and exhibit the skill, teamwork, and positive attitude necessary for success will be promoted to our "Raider" rank." This rank allows players to have priority on raid slots and loot drops. If a Raider misses 2 weeks from raiding, he will be demoted to "Casual" unless he lets an Officer know why he is MIA in advance. Once demoted, simply start raiding again and you will be promoted back to our "Raider" rank if a slot is available. Members will be promoted to Raiders by the recommendation of their Class leader and the Officers. All demotions and promotions are done by Officer votes. Meaning if you are demoted you can only be promoted by Officer votes. There will be a limited number of Raider positions. Core This is where IOD makes a difference. When a RAIDER shows between 90% to 100% attendance on the 60 days range, pull the DPS/HPS required to master the hard-modes, enjoys grinding new content, execute their role with ease, and shows all the good characteristic of a top-progression guild member, that raider is promoted to a CORE member. The CORE members have to meet all those requirements to stay in the CORE group and will be demoted as soon as one or more of those requirements aren't met anymore. CORE Members have couple of perks like: Guaranteed Raid Invites Over any other members, up to 50G Guild Bank Repair on grinding raid nights, limited special drops free of DKP charge (Like Orange Items and Mounts). A minimum of 20 and maximum of 25 core spots will be available at one time. Officers Officers are "CORE MEMBERS" but with leadership and management roles. Each Officer will help out in the management and organization of the Guild. All ranks should speak to an Officer about any guild-related issues. If an Officer misses 2 weeks from raiding or is not getting their tasks done, he will be demoted to "Raider". Once demoted, simply start raiding and taking care of your roles in order to be promoted. All promotions are done by Officer votes. Meaning if you are demoted you can only be promoted by Officer votes. There will be a limited number of Officer Positions. Class Leaders Class Leaders are those Raiders who have made extra effort in maintaining the success of IOD. There is one class leader spot in each of the following areas; tanking, melee DPS, ranged DPS, and Healing. Raiders who show initiative with continual helping of other members (helping with specs/items/quests), taking initiative in raid preparation, recruiting new members, etc. will be considered for a Class Leader position. Also, as a Class Leader, you are expected to know what the classes you lead are generally supposed to do for every raid encounter (positioning, assignments, etc.). All demotions and promotions are done by Officer votes. Meaning if you are demoted you can only be promoted by Officer votes. There will be a limited number of Class Leader positions. PUGS We try to not pick-up PUGS, but there are times that we might bring on a few TRUSTED players to help us complete a raid. If you ask us to bring a PUG along (for instance a RL friend), it is your responsibility to inform the PUG players the following: 1. Loot will always be distributed to a member or a raider first. 2. PUG players will only be able to roll on an item if no raider or member needs it. 3. They must have Ventrilo installed and be able to connect to our server. 4. They must have all vital raid add-ons installed and updated. 5. They must be reasonably prepared with the proper consumables. There are no exceptions to these rules. If they do not agree, they cannot participate in the raid. MainTank Role Having a "go to" person that tanks affords us the luxury of gearing up people to specialize at their raiding duties. A strong tank makes up the core of any successful raiding guild. Having a tank that can take a beating contributes to IOD's progression in instances and raids. As a result, when TIER items drop while raiding that are upgrades to our MainTank their need will take precedence over ALL others. If the main tank does not need the dropped item, then the remaining raid members can execute the DKP rule that will be explained further below. This benefits the entire guild - allowing us to progress sooner, down more bosses, and ultimately earn more loot for everyone. There might be multiple main tanks in the guild, and they will be required to be CORE members before they can be made MT. Master Looting While we have not been victim of a ninja looting incident, we will be Master Looting on all boss encounters. Mistakes can and will be made, and nothing can foster enmity and division within a guild faster than loot issues. Dual Spec Roles If you play a class that can fill-in in a pinch, such as a pally, plate-rogue, or druid, you should be ready and equipped to perform this backup role. That means for example, if you are a warrior or pally, you should be ready to use a sword and shield at a moment's notice, or have some tanking gear if you are a druid. We are not requesting that you have a full set of blue or epic gear for different roles than you are currently spec'ed (even though that would be nice!), just be prepared with decent gear to fill-in. Having someone capable and equipped to fill-in in an emergency can be the difference between wiping and recovering to complete an encounter. Guild Bank All disenchanted epic items that are obtained while raiding will go into the guild bank. Please give said reagents to one of the raid leaders for appropriate storage. If you are a raider, please contact an officer and he will give you those set items. First come, first served. EPIC Mount drops or Bags/Special items. These items add no value to the player so if your toon is able to use this special item then if you are a raider, we will execute a free roll for it. Crafting recipes Main crafters will have priority on these items. Main crafters are voted in by the officers. We choose them based on their seniority, attendance and dedication. If the main crafter already have it then it will be free rolls to other crafters only. Legendary Weapons/Pieces Officers will vote on who will receive the pieces. We choose them based on their seniority, attendance and dedication. Once they complete the set, they will be charged the appropriate item level DKP. Once they complete the set, another player will be voted to accept it. DKP Loot (25 Man raids only) DKP IS BEING EVALUATED AND MAY CHANGE, FOR NOW THIS IS THE WAY IT'S DONE I O D uses the Zero-sum DKP system for the "main" raiding instances. The Zero-sum loot system is explained in detail here. Familiarize yourself with it and understand it. Loot Priority Loot priority is based on DKP. The player with the highest DKP who rolls for the items wins, regardless of upgrade value to that player. The only exception is Tier Gear for the main tank, as explained above. Below is the rank priority list for Loot Distribution: 1. Main Tank (Tier gear Only) 2. Cores, Raiders and Officers 3. Initiates 4. Casuals 5. Pugs Basically this means that if 2 or more players of different ranks are supposed to receive an item, and one person is of higher rank than the others, the person with the higher rank automatically is awarded the item, regardless of DKP. If multiple people from the same rank are supposed to receive an item (for instance 3 raiders), then it is the person who has the most DKP who is awarded the item. In the event of a tie in DKP with players of equal rank, then the following tie-breakers will apply 1. Raid attendance over the last 60 days. 2. Total DKP earned while in IOD (including pre WotLK) DKP 3. In Game Roll How DKP Is Earned - DKP is earned by loot, meaning when a person buys loot the cost of the loot is divided amongst the raid and given as DKP points. - The system is designed so that loot shall be distributed evenly amongst the raid members and to upgrade the guild/raid more efficiently. Drops like patterns, formulas, recipes etc are to be given to Guild main crafters. To become a Guild main crafter please contact an officer and tell them you are interested in becoming one. If the recipe is already known by Guild crafters the recipe/pattern may be claimed by Raiders who want the pattern through a winning roll. If no Raiders need or want the pattern, everyone else is free to roll Drops like items, Gems, Marks, will be gathered/mined to be added to the Guild Bank. This will help the guild to start generating revenue to help pay for repairs, flasks etc. Loot priority should be given to mains over alts/off specs on items that are an upgrade for them. Other than that loot priority should be equal. DKP Formula: We want to make this SIMPLE! The system will have static item prices. Trinkets - Neck Piece, Rings, Trinkets will cost 25 DKP points Items - Chest Piece, Leg Piece, Tokens, Gloves, Helms, Off hands will cost 40 DKP points Weapons - One Hander, Cost 50 DKP points. Weapons - Two Hander, Cost 75DKP Main Spec vs. Off-Spec - If an item drops and no one has indicated that they would like to roll on the item you may roll on the item if it is for your off-spec. All items awarded for off-spec will cost ½ of the normal DKP. There will be a cap on how much DKP points you can accrue. The current Cap is set to 150. This will force members to SPEND their DKP points. If you have over 150 DKP, you will be reset to 150, and the points over 150 will be lost. Also, the same cap is active for negative. If you spend more than 150 DKP negative, you will never go bellow 150. Grinding on new Boss If we are learning a new boss, we will earn 1 DKP per ½ hour of grinding. Once the boss is killed, everyone will earn 5 DKP points as a bonus. Wait list In order to ensure we have enough people for raiding, our body of raiding members exceeds the number of raid slots by a considerable amount. For the sake of fairness, and so we can proactive swap out people as needed, raiding members on the wait list will earn full DKP. You must join the list when the raid starts or be willing to stay active on the wait list until the raid finishes. Please contact the raid leader to find out how to be added to the wait list. This is your responsibility. You must be able to report to the zone entrance within 5 minutes of being asked. This means that anyone on the wait list should either have set their hearth to be close to the raid instance, be doing stuff nearby, or be able to switch from an alt to a character parked at the entrance. You need to drop what you're doing, repair, and make it to a raid instance within the same zone. If you're unable to do that, you will still be allowed to join if we haven't gotten someone else. You must be online the whole time while on the wait list. Getting disconnected for a few minutes because your router reset or you have to reboot is fine. But if you're gone for an extended period of time, then you will be considered no longer on the wait list for the evening. Specifically, if you are off line for more than 10 minutes, you will be removed from the wait list. Alts Alternates are not eligible to earn DKP Alternates are not permitted to spend DKP earned on their main toon. DKP is not transferable. If an alternate is chosen as the new main, a DKP wipe will occur and the new main will start at zero. DKP will be transferable if the Raid leader specifically asks a Raider to go on his/her Alt for the benefit of the raid. And if the player puts in a request with the officers that he would like to switch roles and all Officers agree. Main Spec/Off-spec There will be a time when a RL might ask a Raider to re-spec for a specific purpose. However if a loot drops, the Raider will only still be able to purchase the item for their main-spec. The Raider however will receive gold from the guild bank for their expenses. Dual Spec: Every so often, the RL might assign someone to fulfill two different roles within the raid group. To be able to execute this, the player will need to have gear up to par to our progression rate on both fronts. To make sure this does not become a penalty to a member, he will be paying OFF-SPEC DKP price for both his main specs, guaranteeing that he will have enough DKP to fill that role, and not adding a burden of a second spec. Required add-ons ALL raiding members are expected to have Omen and Deadly Boss Mods. Please check with your class leaders for class specific addons such as Healbot, PallyPower, Mik scrolling Combat text. Guild Bank Policy It will also be the Officer's responsibility to manage the Guild Bank. The Bank will be divided into the following. Tab1 - Junk: This tab will allow members to deposit and withdrawal as much junk as they want. Access: Casual, Raiders, Class Leaders, and Officers will be able to deposit and withdrawal as much as they want. Initiates deposit only Tab2 - Misc: This tab will allow members to deposit and withdrawal as much junk as they want. Access: Casual, Raiders, Class Leaders and Officers will be able to deposit and withdrawal as much as they want. Initiates deposit only Tab3 - Crafting: This tab will be used to collect items needed for crafting. Access: Officers and Class Leaders will have limited withdrawals, all others deposit only. Tab4 - Rare: This tab will be used to collect valuables to generate income for the guild. Income generated will be used to purchase flasks, pots etc. Access: Officers and Class Leaders will have limited withdrawal, Raiders, Casual and initiates will have deposit only. Tab5 - Raiders: This tab will be used to hold raid supplies such as pots, flasks, food, etc. Items are to be withdrawn only for IOD raids on designated raid nights. If you can craft raid supplies and wish to donate to the guild, this is a great way to help everyone out. Access: Officers, Class Leaders and Raiders will have limited withdrawal, Casual and initiates will have deposit only. Withdrawals from non-access tabs: A Casual, Raider, Initiate, or Core may ask an officer to withdraw from a bank's tab that they don't have access to. Officers and Class Leaders will use good judgment to withdraw the item for the member. It is asked that you make a donation to the guild bank in order to keep the guild funded to buy materials for raiding. Class Leaders Requirements: 1. Be part of the CORE team. 2. Understands their class and different specs very well. 3. Understands the responsibilities of the other classes he/she leads (for example ranged DPS Class Leader should know what Hunters, Warlocks, Mages, Ele Shammies need to be doing during any given point in a raid) 4. Has experience with current level dungeons. 5. Able to communicate well with his/her team and coordinate efforts with the raid leader. 6. Has organizational skills to manage his/her class team during and off raids. 7. Able to mentor members of his/her class team during and off raids. 8. Guild Crafters Main Crafters will receive priority rolls on dropped recipe. There can be many crafters in the guild. Requirements: 1. Able to craft for free (with the person's mats of course) a guildies request for an item or consumable. 2. Create/update and manage your crafting specialty group on the forums. 3. Farm and Craft items that are needed for Raid instances. (within reason) Lastly, being in IOD is about having fun and success. We pride ourselves on having a good time while we raid, but also running a tight ship. This means that if people are not doing their jobs, they will be removed for someone who is ready to step up and do the job. If you have an issue with the Guild Policy, another member, our strategies, etc. please address it with one of the officers.
